Adoption Article

My friend Jasmine Budak wrote this article in the Walrus and I wanted to share it with you. It tells a story close to our hearts and a battle we fought inside before we decided on where to adopt and with what agency.

Old connections

Today Jay and I ran into an old classmate of mine from high school at Walmart. She greeted us with a huge smile and a happy wish for our adventure. I don't connect in 'real' life with my old high school friends much and usually catch up with their lives on facebook. It was really nice to hear that she follows our story and really truly wishes us well on our journey. I hear from family and friends on here but to hear that our story touched someone that I haven't seen in oh maybe 10-12 yrs was encouraging.

This journey will be long, but knowing how much support and love we have helps us get through it. When our baby arrives, this journey won't matter so much, it is all about the kid. Thanks for the advice Andrea.

Thank you to you all for reading, sharing and being there for us!

Time is moving on...

2 months have passed quite quickly. We are enjoying this time, waiting and excitement is building. We are making plans and are moving forward. but always thinking that we could have a baby by then. Time will tell.

It is nice to have this time with each other. The first 3yrs of our marriage where clouded by infertility and the unknown. It is nice to know the path we are on and feel solid in moving and growing as a couple. We are getting our barrings back. We are happier and stronger as we have gone through so much and know how strong each of us is. Which at the end of all this will make us better people, in turn better parents.

A while back I spoke about how pregnant women are conscious of what they do while pregnant, exercise, eating and nesting. I started a crossfit class beginning of September and am feeling the results. I have more energy, I can lift more, and I am loosing inches. I am creating a new habit and am really loving it.

The baby's room is coming together and we are stocking up on supplies. I have found cloth diapers that a friend suggested to me and bottles and random clothes and burping cloths all second hand. We are quite pleased with the amount of money we haven't spent. Second hand is wonderful and recycling!!

That is where we are now, 2 months in. We will be posting a bit more frequently.

Hope all is well in your worlds.
